Instrument and Controls Technician

What you will do

• Troubleshoot and program PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS control systems.
• Respond to plant equipment downtime and help resolve operational issues quickly.
• Install and troubleshoot field wiring, instruments, sensors, and control-system hardware.
• Calibrate and replace electrical sensors, including pressure, temperature, position, photoelectric, inductive, and capacitive sensors.
• Test, modify, and troubleshoot control-system applications and signal networks.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, control schematics, wiring drawings, I/O lists, SAMA diagrams, and pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.

Requirements

• High school diploma, equivalent qualification, or technical training.
• At least 3 years of controls-system maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a team.
• Ability to climb and work at elevations, including exhaust stacks of approximately 250 feet.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and tolerate temperature extremes, high noise, steam lines, rotating equipment, and dusty or dirty environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver loads up to 100 pounds; a pre-employment physical exam and drug screening are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ovation, Wonderware, Allen Bradley, or CEMS.
