Application Engineer (AI)

Location: Bratislava, Slovakia

Salary: EUR 2,400–4,100 per month for a full-time role, plus performance-based variable compensation.

What you will do

• Maintain, refactor, and extend production AI applications and services for Claims, Treaty, and Facultative reinsurance lines.
• Build tools, services, and workflows used by LLM-based agents.
• Design AI workflows combining models, prompts, tools, enterprise data, and business logic.
• Validate model behavior, outputs, and assumptions from production and business-use perspectives.
• Design evaluation frameworks, test suites, human evaluation workflows, grounding, and assurance checks for AI systems.
• Improve reliability, scalability, cost control, and latency while bringing new agentic systems into production.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering skills in a modern language such as Python, TypeScript, Java, or Kotlin.
• Experience with clean code, automated testing, CI/CD, APIs, services, and integrations.
• Familiarity with LLM application patterns, including prompting, retrieval-augmented generation, and tool or function calling.
• Comfort using agentic coding harnesses such as Claude Code and working in Linux and cloud environments.
• Ability to understand and improve an existing codebase, with exposure to data science methods for validating AI models.
• Forward Deployed Engineer mindset focused on business problems, measurable impact, and pragmatic delivery.

Nice to have

• Hands-on development of agentic or LLM applications, including agent loops, evaluations, and tool design.
• Experience with Palantir Foundry or AIP.
• Insurance or reinsurance domain experience.
• Experience with cloud AI services such as Azure AI.
