Senior AI Engineer - Voice & Agentic Systems

Location: Remote from the European Union region, ideally within 1–2 hours of CET, with in-person team meetings every 4–6 weeks. Berlin is the preferred colocation option; Madrid or Barcelona are also possible. A valid EU work permit is required.

What you will do

• Design and build production agent workflows with LangGraph, including state management, tool calling, memory, error recovery, and human handover.
• Build and tune real-time voice pipelines covering streaming speech recognition, speech synthesis, voice activity detection, turn-taking, and interruption handling.
• Develop backend integrations that enable the agent to take actions during live conversations.
• Shape system architecture and make build-versus-buy decisions for models, speech technologies, and platform components.
• Build evaluation, observability, tracing, regression testing, and latency and quality metrics into the development workflow.
• Translate product needs into technical proposals, prototype ideas, and communicate trade-offs with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Proven experience shipping GenAI and agentic systems to production for real users.
• Hands-on production experience with LangGraph and strong Python skills, including asynchronous programming and FastAPI services.
• Senior or lead-level software engineering experience with end-to-end system architecture and ownership of significant technical decisions.
• Strong product sense and experience influencing what gets built, alongside production-quality testing, observability, and reliability practices.
• Fluent English is required, as well as an EU work permit and the ability to work from the European Union region.
• Regular participation in in-person team sessions is required.

Nice to have

• Experience building voice agents or real-time voice pipelines with Pipecat, LiveKit Agents, WebRTC, or similar technologies.
• Experience with streaming STT/TTS tools such as Deepgram, Soniox, ElevenLabs, or Cartesia.
• Experience with telephony technologies including Twilio, Telnyx, or SIP.
• Experience with LLM evaluation and observability tools such as Langfuse or LangSmith, model routing, MCP, or multiple model providers.
• TypeScript and React experience, or experience in startup and 0-to-1 product environments.
