Personal Lines Underwriter (Property/Casualty Insurance)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, United States. Initial training is in person, followed by possible work-from-home time based on job responsibilities and leadership approval.

What you will do

• Learn insurance coverages, contracts, company procedures, and underwriting philosophy to make underwriting decisions.
• Read and interpret policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements.
• Analyze loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics of risks.
• Assemble information, develop opinions, and clearly communicate decisions using sound judgment.
• Communicate with independent agents and other associates in writing and verbally.
• Complete the company’s underwriter training program for the assigned insurance line.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent direct experience in property/casualty underwriting.
• Ability to organize data, multitask, and make independent decisions.
• Above-average written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write reports, compose correspondence, and resolve complex issues.
• Ability to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
