Senior Manager, IT Applications - Research

Location: Bar Harbor, Maine, United States; hybrid work with in-office presence at hirify.global headquarters 2–3 days per week

Salary: $161,782–$165,554 per year

What you will do

• Plan and manage the full lifecycle of Research IT hardware, software, cloud resources, and scientific applications.
• Develop and execute a DevOps strategy to support reliable software deployments and application health.
• Define Research IT strategies, technology roadmaps, architecture decisions, and associated project plans.
• Select, implement, optimize, and retire technology solutions while managing budgets, contracts, vendors, and business cases.
• Coordinate requirements gathering, resource allocation, milestones, service-level agreements, and communication with executives, department leads, support staff, and end users.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture, IT Operations, peer managers, faculty, and research staff on technology planning and operational improvements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 3 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with software development, application configuration, Agile environments, and the ITIL service management framework.
• At least 1 year of experience running scientific applications in high-performance computing and large-scale cloud storage environments.
• Experience designing systems with Azure and Google Cloud Platform and supporting business requirements analysis, commercial order testing, and daily operations.
• Experience with CareEvolve, Clarity LIMS, Pathology Workbench, and other relevant GCP-based systems.
• Knowledge of PCI, CLIA, HIPAA, GxP, CAP Checklist requirements, and applicable government regulations for scientific data transfer and use.
