Senior Software Engineering Manager (Workbench Research Environment)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States

Base salary: $225,500–$253,500 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead, manage, and expand a team of 8–10 software engineers.
• Plan, execute, and deliver software projects aligned with business objectives.
• Shape the scope and direction of technical initiatives for the Workbench research environment.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to define and execute strategic team goals.
• Provide technical guidance and make critical decisions to meet project milestones.
• Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of technical leadership and/or people management experience with a team of at least 5 software engineers.
• Experience managing software engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Success delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
• Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Healthcare or life sciences experience, particularly with HL7 FHIR or OMOP.
• Experience with GCP or AWS cloud platforms.
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).
