Senior Manager, Platform Development

Location: Remote in the United States, Michigan; ability to travel 5% of the time.

Salary: $113,073.75–$165,000 per year; eligible employees may receive a bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the technology direction and make key technical decisions in partnership with technical product management and business stakeholders.
• Oversee platform engineering teams building the learning management platform and related shared services.
• Manage and mentor Software Engineers and Quality Assurance Engineers, including full-time employees and contractors.
• Set product and technology roadmaps, evaluate new technologies, and drive innovation across the organization.
• Collaborate with engineering groups and enterprise architecture on integrations, standards, deployment, automation, and quality practices.
• Implement CI/CD and frequent release practices for highly available cloud-hosted applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least six years of experience in software engineering leadership roles and a strong full-lifecycle product delivery record.
• Experience leading teams, developing talent, influencing technical direction, managing change, and resolving conflicts.
• Knowledge of Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, build and test automation, orchestration, performance, compliance, and auditing.
• Experience with large-scale application, middleware, integration, and deployment architecture, including service-oriented and microservice architectures in AWS.
• Ability to pass a required background check and work effectively with offshore and distributed teams.

Nice to have

• Five years of experience working on or leading Agile teams.
• Five years of broad Java experience, three years with Angular, and two years with AWS.
• Experience with Progressive Web Apps, Polymer or Stencil, and technologies including Spring, Hibernate, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Neo4j, Node, React, Python, MongoDB, and Redis.
