Location: Remote, but candidates must reside in California; shift work and coverage outside normal business hours may be required.

Salary: $16.90 per hour or the applicable city/county minimum wage.

hirify.global operates newspaper publications, including the Chico Enterprise-Record and other Northern California community newspapers.

What you will do

• Design engaging newspaper pages using InDesign.
• Collaborate with editors across Northern California publications.
• Proofread pages for spelling, grammar, layout consistency, and production quality.
• Apply layout and composition techniques to improve the reader experience.
• Develop knowledge of each publication and its readership.
• Stay current with design trends and learn applicable software and platforms.

Requirements

• Familiarity with basic computer programs and communication tools such as Gmail and Google Chat.
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
• InDesign proficiency is preferred but not required; training may be provided.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of professional experience.
• Strong attention to detail and availability for shift work.
