Senior UX Designer - 12 Months FTC (AI)

Location: Remote or hybrid within the United Kingdom, subject to location. Candidates must have a pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK.

What you will do

• Lead UX strategy and design direction for a mission-critical control room software programme used by emergency services and public safety organisations.
• Develop and maintain a UX roadmap and coordinate design activity across multiple Scrum teams.
• Design complex user journeys, workflows and interactions through wireframes, prototypes and implementation-ready designs.
• Lead user research and usability testing, translating evidence into design recommendations, product decisions and roadmap priorities.
• Mentor designers, facilitate workshops and collaborate with customers, stakeholders, engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Champion accessibility, inclusive design, reusable components, design systems and consistent delivery standards.

Requirements

• Significant experience designing complex enterprise, case management, operational or internal digital products, supported by a portfolio demonstrating measurable outcomes.
• Experience leading or supporting UX or product designers and coordinating design across multiple delivery teams or workstreams.
• Strong hands-on experience with user journeys, interaction design, wireframes, prototypes, research and evidence-led decision-making.
• Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation and communication skills, including the ability to challenge assumptions constructively.
• Experience balancing user needs, operational realities, technical feasibility and delivery constraints in multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design, plus experience with design systems, Material UI, reusable components and design patterns.

Nice to have

• Experience in public safety, emergency services, policing, fire, ambulance, justice or similarly complex operational environments.
• Experience designing products spanning multiple screens, user roles, workflows or interconnected systems.
• Experience with Material Design, Human Interface Guidelines or similar established design systems.
• Experience using AI-powered design, research or prototyping tools, or designing AI-enabled product experiences.
