Assistant General Counsel (Fintech/Web3)

Location: Remote within the contiguous United States and Canada; regular in-person company retreats and office visits may be required.

Salary: $200,000–$240,000 base annually, plus potential on-target earnings and equity.

What you will do

• Own commercial contracting end to end, including client, institutional, partner, protocol, and vendor agreements.
• Draft and negotiate agreements directly with counterparties and their counsel.
• Advise Product and Engineering on legal and regulatory considerations for onchain products.
• Support corporate governance, equity and financing, employment, intellectual property, privacy, marketing, disputes, and regulatory matters.
• Partner with Compliance to align contractual commitments, policies, and controls.
• Build legal intake, contract management, templates, playbooks, and AI-powered automation for a growing legal function.

Requirements

• Strong experience drafting, negotiating, and closing a high volume of commercial agreements.
• In-house experience, preferably within a small legal team requiring independent ownership.
• Broad legal experience across multiple areas and the ability to learn unfamiliar issues quickly.
• Experience working with Product, Engineering, Finance, People, Compliance, or other business teams.
• Practical risk judgment, clear communication, and willingness to handle detailed work directly.
• JD and active membership in good standing of at least one US state bar required.

Nice to have

• Experience in crypto, digital assets, fintech, financial services, or onchain financial products.
• Experience advising on financial products or working with institutional counterparties.
• Experience with financings, equity, corporate governance, regulatory work, AI, automation, or legal technology.
