General Counsel - US (Fintech)

What you will do

• Lead U.S. legal support for commercial, product, contractual, regulatory, and corporate governance matters.
• Advise executive leadership and the board on legal strategy, regulatory developments, risk, and business growth.
• Provide product counsel throughout the development and launch lifecycle for payment and fintech products.
• Draft, negotiate, and review customer, partnership, vendor, and other strategic commercial agreements.
• Manage regulatory relationships, disputes, litigation, arbitration, and external counsel.
• Build and lead the internal U.S. legal team while coordinating with Mastercard’s legal team and the wider group legal function.

Requirements

• Extensive legal leadership experience in fintech, payments, or technology.
• Strong commercial law expertise, including strategic agreement negotiation and structuring.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks for financial services, payments, and fintech.
• Ability to interpret and adapt to evolving regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
• Exceptional project management, drafting, communication, judgment, and business skills.
• Proven ability to lead and grow high-performing legal teams in a fast-paced environment.
