Corporate Counsel (Fintech)

Location: Remote - US

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage software licensing, payment processing, partnership, vendor, reseller, and customer agreements.
• Advise business stakeholders on contractual risk, including indemnification, liability limits, warranties, intellectual property, data security, and privacy obligations.
• Provide legal guidance on card network rules, merchant acquiring, payment facilitator programs, PCI DSS, and related regulatory requirements.
• Partner with product, engineering, information security, sales, compliance, and other teams on legal considerations for products and technology initiatives.
• Support privacy compliance, corporate governance, acquisition integration, vendor management, regulatory examinations, and special projects.
• Develop contract templates, playbooks, and legal processes while monitoring legal and regulatory developments affecting software, fintech, and payments.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• 3–5 years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements involving payments, software, technology, or commercial transactions.
• Knowledge of contract law, commercial risk allocation, data security, privacy, card network rules, PCI DSS, PayFac and merchant acquiring models, and AML/KYC considerations.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• CIPP certification or equivalent practical experience supporting privacy compliance initiatives.
