Senior Counsel, Payments & Fintech

Salary: $150,400–$204,100 base pay annually

What you will do

• Advise global payments businesses on product design, market expansion, and operational decisions across domestic and international payment services.
• Draft and negotiate agreements with payment processors, financial institutions, card networks, technology providers, customers, and strategic partners.
• Advise on money transmission, card network rules, electronic payments, anti-money laundering, sanctions, consumer protection, and cross-border funds flow.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Finance, Treasury, Risk, and Compliance to develop payment solutions and scalable compliance approaches.
• Support global treasury and settlement activities, regulatory reviews, and specialist external counsel management.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of relevant legal experience in payments, fintech, financial services, or another highly regulated technology environment.
• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• Experience advising on complex payment products, commercial agreements, and regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience with cross-border payments or international funds flow, strong drafting and negotiation skills, and sound commercial judgment.
• Ability to work independently and assess legal and compliance implications of emerging technologies, including AI-powered tools.
