TL;DR
Senior Athletic Trainer - Rehab Coordinator (Sports Medicine/Rehabilitation): Providing athletic training and physical therapy services, evaluating and rehabilitating injuries, and coordinating patient care within a sports medicine department with an accent on clinical rehabilitation, emergency care, and return-to-play decisions. Focus on supervising rehabilitation, coordinating multidisciplinary care, interpreting sports performance metrics, and maintaining compliance with clinical and NCAA requirements.

Location: 2255 Campus Dr., Evanston, Illinois, United States. Full-time day shift, with athletic practice and competition coverage that may require travel and mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: USD 39.03–60.50 per hour.

What you will do

  • Provide licensed athletic training and/or physical therapy services under physician direction.
  • Evaluate, manage, treat, and rehabilitate acute injuries and medical conditions while maintaining complete medical records.
  • Coordinate rehabilitation care, supervise colleagues and learners, and communicate patient status across multidisciplinary sports medicine teams.
  • Make participation, return-to-play, and referral decisions in accordance with clinical protocols.
  • Coordinate physician visits, testing, imaging, follow-up care, equipment fitting, and pre-participation screenings.
  • Develop emergency action plans, manage supplies, analyze performance and injury metrics, and support quality improvement and departmental planning.

Requirements

  • Current BOC certification as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Licensed Athletic Trainer through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
  • Master’s degree in Athletic Training if graduated after July 1, 2020, or bachelor’s degree if graduated before that date.
  • Advanced-practice credentialing, an accredited athletic training or physical therapy residency/fellowship, or equivalent work experience and education.
  • 1–2 years of previous job-related experience.
  • Ability to work onsite in Evanston and cover practices and competitions, including non-traditional hours when required.

Nice to have

  • Doctoral degree.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist through IDFPR.
  • 3–5 years of previous job-related experience.
