Associate or Senior Editor, BMC Nursing

Location: Shanghai or Pune, with a hybrid working model

What you will do

• Develop the journal strategy for BMC Nursing and support subject-specific strategy across the Journals group.
• Identify and commission reviews, collections, and supplements while working with the scientific community.
• Oversee peer review and content handling, including manuscript assessment, editorial decisions, and publishing workflows.
• Investigate and resolve publishing and research integrity cases with relevant internal teams.
• Build relationships with editorial board members and authors, recruit and train board members, and host board meetings.
• Promote the journal through website content, conferences, blogs, social media, and professional networks.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent in nursing, healthcare, public health, or a related discipline.
• Interest in open access publishing, scientific research, and current knowledge of a relevant field.
• Knowledge of editorial processes and strong analytical, critical appraisal, communication, and influencing skills.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines, adapt to changing circumstances, and respond to non-routine situations.
• Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues at all levels and contribute effectively within a team.
• Editorial experience is required for the Senior Editor level; occasional travel and representation of BMC at external events are expected.
