Vehicle Technician (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Tokyo, Japan. Full-time, onsite, shift-based role supporting a rotating schedule for 24/7 fleet readiness.

What you will do

• Perform scheduled servicing, inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs across a fleet of autonomous vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using OEM documentation and diagnostic equipment, collaborating with engineering teams on complex issues.
• Prepare vehicles for demonstrations, investor rides, media events, testing, and real-world deployment.
• Respond to driver and fleet-monitoring reports, resolve urgent faults, and return vehicles to service quickly.
• Record maintenance activities, faults, repairs, parts used, and recurring issues in digital tracking tools.
• Maintain workshop safety, tools, diagnostic devices, and parts readiness while contributing to servicing-process improvements.

Requirements

• Relevant automotive servicing, diagnostics, and repair qualifications, such as the Level 2 Automotive Mechanic qualification ( ) in Japan.
• Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician in an automotive servicing or fleet environment.
• Strong diagnostic skills with OEM or third-party equipment, plus experience with mechanical and bodywork repairs using OEM manuals.
• Competence with computer systems such as Word and Excel for maintenance tracking and records.
• Ability to work with engineers, operations staff, Fleet Service Managers, Field Engineering, and drivers.
• Japan Driving License held for at least five years, with a strong understanding of workshop safety and compliance.
