Material Program Manager (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Yokohama, Japan; hybrid working with in-person collaboration and hands-on work in vehicle workshops and labs

What you will do

• Own materials programs for autonomous vehicle and hardware development in Japan, covering procurement, receiving, storage, inventory tracking, and outbound shipping.
• Drive CTB readiness with suppliers, contract manufacturers, workshop teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with Japanese vehicle outfitters and local suppliers, including onboarding and commercial coordination.
• Coordinate secure storage and traceable handling of high-value, long-lead-time prototype materials.
• Coordinate shipments to workshops, vehicle outfitter facilities, and hirify.global sites in line with Japanese logistics and customs requirements.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Product, and global Supply Chain teams on design-for-manufacturing, design-for-scale, risks, and delivery decisions.

Requirements

• Experience scaling newly developed products through supplier and partner relationships.
• Strong project or program management experience with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Experience coordinating materials procurement, receiving, storage, and shipping.
• Full professional proficiency in English and Japanese, written and verbal.
• Knowledge of Japanese logistics, import/export regulations, and local business etiquette.
• Cost analysis, negotiation support, stakeholder management, and comfort working in an Agile environment with aggressive timelines.

Hiring process

• Initial recruiter call lasting 30 minutes.
• Competency interviews with the hiring manager, followed by deep-dive technical interviews covering execution, CTB, cross-functional delivery, operations, and material flow.
• Final interview focused on mission and values alignment.
