Trade Compliance Officer

Location: On-site in Pasir Gudang, Johor, Malaysia

What you will do

• Monitor changes in trade regulations, tariff codes, and import/export laws.
• Interpret trade requirements and communicate them to internal stakeholders.
• Oversee accurate and timely import/export declarations, permits, and related documentation.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify trade compliance issues.
• Collaborate with logistics, finance, legal, and sales teams on cross-functional compliance.

Requirements

• Experience in import/export, trade compliance, commodity controls, and regulatory or security initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Knowledge of LMW, MIDA, SST, and local customs regulatory requirements.
• Strong knowledge of trade laws, import/export regulations, and trade sanctions.
• Ability to work in an indoor environment involving standing, walking, lifting up to 15 kg, ladder climbing, hot molding equipment, and solvents.
• Compliance with safety procedures and use of appropriate personal protective equipment are required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or relevant certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist.
• Knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, country of origin, sanctions and denied-party screening, product marking, and recordkeeping.
