Principal Electrical Engineer – High-Speed Optoelectronics & RF Systems

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; office and laboratory environment. Up to 10% travel is required.

Salary: $126,200–$210,350 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of complex optoelectronic products and subsystems.
• Provide technical leadership across electrical, optical, mechanical, and manufacturing disciplines.
• Perform system-level tradeoff analyses covering performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
• Develop RF and microwave circuits from DC to 100 GHz and beyond, including signal conditioning, amplification, control, and power management circuits.
• Design and characterize photodiode-based receiver chains, focusing optics, TIAs, distributed amplifiers, and optical detection systems.
• Perform HFSS simulations, high-speed signal-path analysis, laboratory characterization, debugging, and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience developing complex electronic products.
• Deep expertise in analog circuit design, RF, high-speed electronics, and circuit simulation and modeling.
• Demonstrated experience designing photodiode-based receiver systems, optical concepts, and optoelectronic hardware.
• Track record of bringing complex products from concept through production.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; work visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-speed optical communications, datacenter networking, optical transceivers, coherent optics, or photonic integrated circuits.
• Experience with 100G, 200G, 400G, 800G, or higher-speed optical communication systems.
• Experience with MMIC components, RF amplifier design, semiconductor optoelectronic devices, and optical test and measurement systems.
• Familiarity with oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, optical/RF spectrum analyzers, and TDECQ testing.
