Staff DSP Architect (DSP)

Location: Santa Clara, CA, United States

Salary: $119,620–$179,200 per year base pay, plus eligibility for bonus and equity plans.

What you will do

• Architect and simulate advanced DSP systems, defining features, performance targets, and detailed specifications.
• Research digital signal processing techniques for high-speed SerDes and optical communication channels.
• Prototype and evaluate algorithms for equalization, adaptation, and forward error correction.
• Develop and validate DSP algorithms and bit-true architecture models in C++, MATLAB, or Python.
• Build behavioral models of mixed-signal transceiver circuits and collaborate with analog, digital design, and verification teams.
• Participate in chip bring-up and hands-on laboratory debugging and system validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 3–5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree and/or PhD with 2+ years of experience.
• Graduate coursework in at least two of digital signal processing, digital communications, information theory, coding theory, or probability theory.
• Strong research and development background in digital signal processing, digital communications, coding theory, probability, detection, or estimation theory.
• Proficiency in C++, MATLAB, or Python, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with high-speed DSP, including FFE/DFE, adaptive filters, CDR, forward error correction, or maximum likelihood sequence detection.
• Knowledge of optical communication components and experience with signal integrity or ADC-based wireline transceivers.

• Experience with direct-detect/intensity-modulated or coherent optical communications.
• Experience with signal integrity and ADC-based wireline transceivers.
