Field Service Technician I (Medical Devices)

Location: Rochester, New York, United States, or surrounding areas. The role is listed as remote but requires regular in-person visits to customer and healthcare sites. Relocation is not available.

Pay: $30.36–$38.00 per hour

What you will do

• Repair, sharpen, maintain, inspect, and test surgical instruments at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot instrument problems and determine appropriate repair solutions with guidance from senior technicians.
• Complete work orders, service documentation, customer reports, and records accurately and on time.
• Build customer relationships, provide service recommendations, and support Sales teams in the territory.
• Collaborate with service, technical, and sales teams while maintaining clean and organized work areas.
• Follow ISO, FDA, quality, safety, and healthcare customer requirements.

Requirements

• Residence in Rochester, NY, or surrounding areas is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience repairing, machining, or handling delicate metal instruments.
• Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and basic computer and math skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to travel to customer locations, work adjusted schedules or overtime when needed, and lift or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Nice to have

• Technical, vocational, or associate degree.
• Experience in medical devices, healthcare, sterile processing, manufacturing, or mechanical repair.
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and Sterile Processing Department operations.
