Field Service Technician (Packaging)

Location: Remote within the United States, anywhere west of the Mississippi; servicing West Coast customers. Travel to customer locations is required for 85% of the time.

Base salary: $15.50–$42.00/hour

What you will do

• Travel to customer sites to install, start up, maintain, and troubleshoot labeling machines.
• Train customer operators and technicians on system setup, operation, changeover, and maintenance.
• Help customers identify equipment problems and implement efficient, economical solutions.
• Coordinate required parts and help customers maintain adequate spare-component stock.
• Prepare detailed trip reports covering issues, actions taken, and recommended next steps.
• Provide technical assistance by phone and through remote connections.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a related mechanical or electrical technical field, or 6 years of equivalent packaging-industry experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in custom machine manufacturing or mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical applications, including PLCs, servo-driven motors, and controls.
• Ability to read and understand complex engineering designs and wiring schematics.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and independent-judgment skills.
• Ability to travel 85% of the time and work overtime as required.
