TL;DR
Harness Technician (Aerospace): Fabricating, assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electrical wire and coaxial harnesses for spacecraft avionics and test systems with an accent on precision crimping, soldering, connectorization, shielding, and aerospace workmanship standards. Focus on interpreting engineering drawings, maintaining traceable build documentation, and producing reliable harnesses in cleanroom and ESD-safe environments.

What you will do

  • Fabricate, assemble, route, and terminate complex electrical wire and coaxial harnesses from schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Perform precision crimping, soldering, splicing, pinning, connectorization, shielding, sleeving, and potting using aerospace-grade wires, cables, and connectors.
  • Inspect and test harnesses for continuity, insulation resistance, and point-to-point verification using digital multimeters and other test equipment.
  • Diagnose wiring and termination issues and complete repairs, modifications, and rework to required workmanship standards.
  • Maintain as-built records, build logs, red-line documentation, and full manufacturing traceability.
  • Collaborate with engineers on manufacturability, routing, connector selection, and assembly processes in cleanroom and ESD-safe environments.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in satellite or spacecraft assembly and integration, including aerospace structures, avionics integration, and harnessing.
  • Active or prior certification in NASA-STD-8739 or IPC-J-STD-001 Space Addendum.
  • Expert ability to read complex electrical schematics and 3D CAD models.
  • Experience with Micro-D, Nano-D, and circular Mil-Spec high-density connectors, plus familiarity with aerospace quality processes and vacuum-compatible materials.
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools, work under a microscope for extended periods, handle delicate wiring, and carry up to 50 lb.
  • Eligibility under U.S. export-control requirements: applicants must qualify as a U.S. Person or be able to obtain the required export authorizations.
