TL;DR
Entry-Level Wire Harness Technician (Robotics): Building, inspecting, testing, and repairing high-reliability wire harnesses and cable assemblies for autonomous machines with an accent on IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship, engineering drawings, and electrical testing. Focus on adapting to changing documentation, diagnosing wiring defects, and maintaining safety and quality in low-volume, high-mix production.

Location: Seattle, United States; onsite

Salary: $40,000–$75,000 base salary per year

What you will do

  • Cut, strip, crimp, solder, and terminate wires and cables according to engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Build electro-mechanical assemblies and wire harnesses to IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards.
  • Read cable harness, layout, mechanical, schematic, and GD&T drawings.
  • Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and functional electrical tests using digital multimeters and custom test setups.
  • Inspect harnesses, document non-conformances, and complete basic rework such as de-pinning, re-pinning, and splice repairs.
  • Collaborate with production and manufacturing engineers to improve build processes and maintain a clean, safe work area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–5 years of experience using mechanical and/or electronic hand tools.
  • Ability to work directly from wiring diagrams, schematics, assembly drawings, and mechanical/GD&T drawings.
  • Experience fabricating or inspecting wire harnesses and cable assemblies, including crimping, soldering, and connector termination.
  • Ability to use a digital multimeter and basic test setups to verify continuity, resistance, and functional pass/fail.
  • Ability to work onsite in Seattle, at a bench or on a vehicle, and lift up to 20 lbs as needed.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards or certification.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, heavy equipment, automotive, or another high-reliability manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Altium.
