Senior System Protection Engineer

What you will do

• Perform system protection engineering for large and complex electric projects.
• Issue protection requirements, relay and automatic settings, process clearances, and investigate relay operations.
• Provide maintenance and operational support for routine and complex protection systems.
• Perform root cause analysis during emergencies and recommend local and system-wide improvements.
• Coach, direct, and assist technical employees and teams, including serving as a team leader.
• Represent the engineering group in meetings and collaborate with vendors, manufacturers, utilities, and consultants.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited US curriculum or equivalent international education.
• At least 8 years of experience in electric system protection.
• Ability to work independently on complex assignments with limited direction and review.
• Onsite work in West Sacramento, California is required.

Nice to have

• Current and active California Professional Engineer license.
• Participation in professional engineering organizations such as PSRC or IEEE.
