Project Engineer - Protection

Location: Phoenix, Arizona, United States. The role requires domestic and international travel of at least 25% based on the focus area.

What you will do

• Apply power system protection expertise and knowledge of SEL products to complete complex engineering assignments.
• Lead customer training and support for the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and protection systems.
• Assign, complete, and implement project work within agreed scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
• Assist with preparing and presenting proposals for SEL equipment, services, and systems.
• Mentor and develop professional staff and supervise as needed.
• Apply SEL values, operating principles, and World Class Manufacturing principles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant application experience with electric power systems, industry practices, and protection practices and philosophies.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration, automation, communications, system design, studies, and protective relay applications.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills, with the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Satisfactory background check and negative drug test results are required.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification.
• Experience with electrical utilities, industrial plants, consulting engineering, or system integration.
• Project management experience.
• Working knowledge of Vision or another project management tracking system.
