Power Engineer (Electric Power Systems)

Location: Boise, Idaho, or Pullman, Washington, United States

Salary: $89,400–$134,100 per year for the Power Engineer level; associate-level pay is $81,300–$122,000.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain knowledge of electric power systems and protection, monitoring, and control practices.
• Assist with product specifications and develop and analyze functional tests.
• Prepare application literature, instruction manuals, and data sheets.
• Provide power engineering support for customer applications and Field Application Engineers.
• Write and review power system protection solutions for technical meetings and conferences.
• Apply SEL values, operating principles, and world-class manufacturing principles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Typically 2+ years of experience with electric power systems, protection practices, and philosophies.
• Working knowledge of apparatus and protective relay applications in an electrical utility or industrial plant.
• Strong technical training, writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Ability to learn new skills, take on responsibilities, and work cooperatively in a team environment.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of SEL products.
• Experience modeling power systems using EMTP.
