Principal Architect (AI)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States; office-first culture with three days per week in the office encouraged for most roles.

Annual base pay range: $196,500–$294,750 USD for candidates based in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, and Washington.

What you will do

• Lead multi-year architecture strategy across product domains and align domain architects around a unified platform direction.
• Resolve cross-domain architectural challenges and define requirements for security, privacy, reliability, performance, scalability, and cost.
• Assess technical feasibility and risks during product discovery and roadmap planning.
• Develop architecture standards, reference architectures, decision records, and governance practices for R&D.
• Build AI-native architecture enablement through machine-readable standards, architecture-as-code, fitness functions, automated checks, and AI-assisted design reviews.
• Mentor architects, lead the Architecture Guild, and advise Engineering, Product, UX, and executive leadership on technical trade-offs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 16+ years of professional software engineering experience and demonstrated organization-wide technical strategy impact.
• Deep experience with distributed, cloud-native architecture, including microservices, microfrontends, event-driven integration, and API design.
• Experience defining non-functional requirements and architecture governance at platform scale.
• Experience designing for security, privacy, and compliance in enterprise SaaS.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and AI-native engineering practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with GDPR, SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001, or ISO/IEC 27701 compliance frameworks.
• Experience applying Team Topologies or similar operating models to architecture functions.
