Principal Engineer (Agentic AI)

Location: New York, NY, USA; remote work is listed for California, with compensation bands also covering Mountain View, San Francisco Bay Area, Bellevue, Seattle, NYC, and the rest of the US.

Base salary: $202,800–$304,200 annually for Bellevue, Seattle, NYC, and Remote CA. Other US location bands range from $179,500 to $341,900.

What you will do

• Architect and build agentic pipelines, orchestration platforms, and supporting services.
• Productionize LLM-powered workflows involving multi-agent orchestration, tool use, retrieval systems, and human-in-the-loop control planes.
• Develop evaluation harnesses, benchmarks, and automated quality gates for non-deterministic AI systems.
• Prototype strategic AI ideas and integrate them with existing platforms.
• Guide complex technical decisions, identify risks, and help teams adopt AI pragmatically.
• Raise engineering standards through architectural reviews, exemplary code, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in software development, system design, or architecture.
• Experience with modern LLMs and agentic frameworks, including prompt and context engineering, tool use, RAG, orchestration, and evaluation.
• Experience taking AI/ML features from prototype to production with evaluation, monitoring, and guardrails.
• Strong background in scalable, fault-tolerant distributed services and streaming or pipeline technologies such as Kafka, Flink, and Spark.
• Ability to drive cross-team technical alignment and mentor engineers.
• Professional English proficiency is required for regular communication with colleagues and partners worldwide.
