Environmental Health & Safety Consultant (Automotive)

Location: Must be based in Baton Rouge or Lafayette, Louisiana, and service clients across the state. The role is hybrid, based from a home office, with frequent onsite client visits, driving between locations typically 4 days per week, and approximately 1–2 weeks of overnight travel per quarter.

Annual base salary: $55,000–$70,000, plus an estimated $6,000–$10,000 annual quarterly bonus and travel allowances.

What you will do

• Manage an inherited customer base and build relationships with managers, senior stakeholders, dealer groups, and state dealer associations.
• Conduct onsite field audits, employee training, and regulatory interactions for automotive clients.
• Prepare and support compliance documentation, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Tier II reporting, OSHA 300 logs, EPA ID numbers, tank permitting, and SPCC Plans.
• Develop, implement, and monitor accident prevention programs, policies, and procedures aligned with applicable laws and regulations.
• Communicate and implement environmental management compliance systems.
• Plan quarterly client visits, maintain service relationships, and submit referrals or sales leads to the Account Executive.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Safety Studies, or a related discipline preferred.
• Approximately three years of Environmental Health & Safety experience preferred.
• Strong relationship-building, leadership, problem-solving, communication, and independent working skills.
• Ability to speak publicly to audiences of up to 300 people and communicate effectively with senior management and client stakeholders.
• Strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, Microsoft Outlook, and phone or tablet applications.
• Active driver’s license, legally required insurance, reliable transportation, ability to drive between client visits, lift up to 20 pounds, stand for at least 6 hours daily, and travel domestically by air and hotel.
