Senior Research Associate (AI)

Location: Remote in the United States, with significant travel to Los Angeles

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 base salary per year

Private design studio building and supporting a portfolio of software, hardware, hospitality, and other projects, with an early-stage investment fund and founder cohort program.

What you will do

• Conduct open-ended research on markets, products, companies, funding activity, competitive landscapes, people, technologies, and regulation.
• Convert research findings into matrices, comparison tables, briefs, landscape maps, and one-pagers.
• Evaluate evidence, identify key implications and uncertainties, and recommend next steps.
• Use AI tools to accelerate research and hirify.globalnd coverage.
• Build lightweight tools, scrapers, and trackers when needed.
• Manage multiple unrelated requests and reprioritize as requirements change.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience and a bachelor's degree.
• Strong reasoning skills, curiosity, and the ability to investigate unfamiliar questions.
• Extensive practical use of AI tools, including the ability to create working scripts or prototypes when appropriate.
• Ability to work independently through ambiguity, incorporate feedback, and make sound judgment calls.
• Strong writing skills for communicating research clearly in concise formats.
• Must be able to work remotely from the United States and travel significantly to Los Angeles.

• Experience working in startup environments.
• Ability to build lightweight scripts or prototypes without waiting on an engineer.
