Senior Associate, Commercial Workout Officer (Commercial Real Estate)

Salary: $93,750-$170,000 annual base pay

What you will do

• Manage a portfolio of distressed commercial real estate loans, monitoring collateral performance, borrower finances, guarantor support, and covenant compliance.
• Evaluate property operations, rent rolls, financial statements, market conditions, capital needs, collateral values, and credit risk.
• Develop and execute modifications, restructurings, forbearances, and other loan resolution strategies.
• Prepare underwriting, financial models, credit memoranda, action plans, and presentations for management and credit committee approval.
• Review and negotiate loan documentation while coordinating with internal and external legal counsel.
• Lead or support borrower negotiations, judicial foreclosure proceedings, and REO stabilization, valuation, asset management, and disposition.

Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, accounting, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 9+ years of experience in commercial real estate workouts, special servicing, special assets, or credit risk management within a regulated financial institution.
• Experience with commercial real estate lending, credit underwriting, loan restructuring, asset management, and distressed assets.
• Deep knowledge of commercial loan documentation, mezzanine financing, intercreditor agreements, and commercial real estate finance.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, relationship management, presentation, and Excel skills, with proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and loan servicing or risk management systems.

Nice to have

• Experience in CMBS special servicing or special assets at a regulated financial institution.
• Knowledge of rent-regulated multifamily housing in New York City.
• Experience with judicial foreclosures, Chapter 11 bankruptcies, 363 sales, and REO assets.
• Master’s degree in finance, real estate, accounting, or a related field.
