Salary: $7,727.33–$11,112.00 CAD per month

What you will do

  • Conduct brief initial mental health assessments, determine acuity and care priorities, and apply a stepped-care approach.
  • Assess suicide risk, self-harm, safety threats, symptom severity, and functional impact using structured tools and clinical judgment.
  • Discuss care options with students and facilitate referrals, warm handoffs, and transitions to hirify.global and community services.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, counsellors, psychologists, and other interdisciplinary providers.
  • Participate in crisis response, case conferences, safety coordination, and campus post-crisis support.
  • Document assessments, safety plans, referrals, consultations, and outcomes in the electronic health record, and contribute to program evaluation.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, an allied health discipline, or Counselling Psychology.
  • Eligibility for professional certification in British Columbia and at least three years of relevant mental health experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience or demonstrated skills in crisis assessment, suicide risk evaluation, safety planning, crisis intervention, de-escalation, and mental health triage.
  • Knowledge of mental health assessment, DSM-5 diagnostic categorization, adolescent and young adult mental health, trauma-informed care, and relevant British Columbia legislation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse student populations, including Indigenous, LGBTQ2SIA+, international, and other equity-deserving groups.
  • Strong written and oral communication, organization, clinical documentation, and electronic health record skills.

Nice to have

  • Current registration and good standing with a relevant professional college in British Columbia, such as BCCNM or CHCPBC.
  • RN, RPN, NP, or equivalent allied health clinical credential.
  • Experience in post-secondary, youth, emergency mental health, crisis, triage, or emergency department settings.
  • Training in suicide risk assessment, such as the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale or Safety Planning Intervention.
  • Bilingualism or multilingualism and experience developing educational programs or materials.
