Salary: $144,100–$208,166.66 annually

What you will do
- Define and execute the Canadian medical affairs strategy and Medical Affairs Plan for Rare Diseases and Rare Blood Disorders.
- Lead, coach, and develop the medical team across Canada.
- Build relationships with specialists, key opinion leaders, payers, regulators, academic institutions, and patient advocacy organizations.
- Oversee investigator-initiated trials, patient registries, real-world evidence studies, and patient-reported outcomes research.
- Partner with Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Patient Safety, and Patient Advocacy teams on integrated patient-access strategies.
- Provide medical oversight for distributor partnerships, scientific communications, medical education, and pharmacovigilance activities.
Requirements
- MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced scientific or medical degree.
- At least 5–8 years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience, including at least 7 years in medical affairs, medical education, or related fields.
- Experience in Rare Diseases and/or Rare Blood Disorders, such as hemophilia, lysosomal storage disorders, or metabolic diseases.
- Proven people management experience and the ability to build and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian rare disease landscape, Health Canada regulations, HTA processes, reimbursement pathways, and patient access challenges.
- Experience working with external partners through a distribution model.
Nice to have
- Experience with hemophilia treatment centers or rare disease centers of excellence.
- Knowledge of enzyme replacement, substrate reduction, gene, or other novel rare disease therapies.
- Experience with patient registries, natural history studies, or real-world evidence generation.
- Bilingual English/French capabilities and familiarity with compassionate or special access programs in Canada.
