Bilingual TeleHealth Nurse

Location: Remote from a private home office; the role supports TeleHealth services for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

What you will do

• Provide telephone triage and professional nursing care using information and communication technologies, clinical guidelines, protocols, and decision-support software.
• Assess callers' conditions, apply established policies, and provide clinically relevant recommendations, including self-care guidance.
• Document clinical assessments, recommendations, and other relevant information accurately and promptly in the computer system.
• Coordinate with callers and third parties during critical situations, including ambulance needs, police intervention, suicidal callers, and suspected child abuse.
• Manage workflow and follow time-utilization guidelines while handling up to 40 calls during an 8-hour rotating shift.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of clinical nursing experience; 5 years is preferred. Acute care, emergency, medical-surgical, intensive care, or relevant community health experience is preferred.
• Active Registered Nurse license in good standing with the applicable provincial nursing regulatory body and compliance with provincial nursing laws.
• Diploma from a recognized or accredited nursing school; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Excellent communication, telephone, customer-relations, critical-thinking, clinical decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer and keyboarding competence, reliable wired high-speed DSL, cable, or FiberOp internet, and a home workspace that meets Work at Home requirements.
• Fluent spoken and written English is required. Fluency in French is preferred. Ability to travel if needed is also required.
