Payroll Analyst (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco or New York City, United States; office attendance is required on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Base salary for San Francisco: $120,000–$140,000 per year.

What you will do

• Manage and reconcile bi-weekly, quarterly commission, and off-cycle U.S. payrolls in Workday.
• Administer Workday Time Tracking for non-exempt hourly employees and ensure accurate, timely timecard approvals.
• Process leave amounts, fringe benefits, equity transactions, and 401(k)/Roth contributions through Fidelity.
• Coordinate with ADP on garnishments, taxes, and net pay, and provide first-line support for U.S. payroll inquiries.
• Prepare month-end payroll journal entries, support balance sheet reconciliations, and analyze payroll reports.
• Improve payroll workflows with Accounting, People, Benefits, Finance, and external payroll partners while supporting the Senior Payroll Analyst.

Requirements

• 4+ years of U.S. payroll processing experience in small to midsize organizations.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll compliance, federal and state payroll taxes, and labor laws.
• Strong in-house payroll systems experience and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a high-growth environment.
• Highly proficient in Excel, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and formulas.
• Curiosity about using AI tools thoughtfully in payroll workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with Workday Payroll, ADP SmartCompliance, or payroll vendor implementation.
• Experience with NetSuite and creating and reconciling payroll journal entries.
• Experience with Workday HCM, Time Tracking, Absence, and Benefits modules.
