Maintenance Technician, Islander Housing (Facilities Maintenance)

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas, United States; on-site work in university residence halls and apartment-style housing.

Salary: Up to $17.50 per hour, approximately $36,400 annually.

What you will do

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs across residential facilities, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and related systems.
• Respond to resident maintenance requests and resolve issues efficiently.
• Inspect residential units to identify and address potential maintenance problems.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and completed maintenance work.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors on larger maintenance projects.
• Operate university vehicles or golf carts and use ladders and small lifts to access worksites.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of related building maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and other building systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work on-call and after hours, lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, and work in varied weather and confined positions.
• Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure; employment requires a criminal history investigation and verification of credentials.

Nice to have

• Additional education or training in maintenance or construction.
• Building maintenance experience in a university or large residential setting.
