Systems Engineer (Biotech Infrastructure)

Location: Norwood, Massachusetts, United States; 70% in-office and 30% flexible work model. Only U.S. persons are eligible due to U.S. export control requirements.

Salary: $109,200–$174,600 per year, with potential annual bonus, incentive compensation, or equity.

What you will do

• Manage VMware, Red Hat, Nutanix, Cisco UCS, Dell server, and Red Hat OpenShift platforms.
• Provision, monitor, patch, and maintain virtual machines and infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Operate monitoring, configuration management, automation, storage, backup, and SAN platforms.
• Develop automation for patching, configuration, compliance, and infrastructure operations using Ansible, SaltStack, Python, PowerShell, YAML, and JSON.
• Support AWS, Azure, or GCP resources and troubleshoot hybrid cloud integrations.
• Act as an escalation point for infrastructure incidents, document operational procedures, and participate in a global 24/7 on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of systems engineering experience focused on compute, virtualization, and storage.
• Experience with virtualization platforms, infrastructure automation, Linux patching, backup, recovery, and monitoring systems.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP infrastructure.
• Strong scripting and communication skills.
• Eligibility as a U.S. person is required because the role may involve access to export-controlled technology and data.
• Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation and regular in-office work are required.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated environments such as GxP or willingness to learn compliance frameworks.
• Deep knowledge of storage architectures, SAN zoning, and performance optimization.
• Virtualization, cloud, backup, or storage certifications.
• Interest in or ability to grow into AI infrastructure support, including SQL and APIs.
