Systems Infrastructure Engineer (VMware/Linux)

Location: Fully on-site in Fall River, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $90,000–$150,000 or $114,000–$184,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot VMware/ESXi virtualization platforms and highly available private cloud clusters.
• Maintain and optimize RHEL-based operating systems on Dell PowerEdge and other enterprise hardware, including kernel tuning, bootloaders, and system initialization.
• Configure and support physical and virtual networks using Cisco routing, switching, VLAN, firewall, and software-defined networking technologies.
• Diagnose hardware, hypervisor, and operating-system issues across the infrastructure stack.
• Apply security configurations and support compliance with relevant security frameworks.
• Create architectural diagrams and engineering plans for cross-functional project teams.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 3 years of experience configuring bare-metal servers, hypervisors, and Linux operating systems.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise virtualization and datacenter infrastructure management.
• In-depth knowledge of SWFTS architecture, including legacy integration, AN/BYG-1 combat control systems, and BYG virtualization environments.
• Ability to travel up to 10% and communicate technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Advanced experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco networking architectures and SDN.
• Shell scripting, Python, or Ansible experience.
• Familiarity with DISA STIGs or other Risk Management Frameworks.
• VMware, Red Hat, Cisco, Security+, or equivalent IAT Level II certification.
