Senior Production Underwriter (Wholesale Insurance)

Location: 800 Boylston St, Boston, Massachusetts; candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence

Salary: $160,000–$175,000 base compensation per year

What you will do

• Develop marketing plans, acquire new clients, and strengthen relationships with agency and carrier partners.
• Conduct agency visits, networking activities, conferences, and business development meetings.
• Build and manage a profitable, diversified book of wholesale insurance business.
• Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal submissions, prepare quotes and proposals, and negotiate pricing, coverage, and terms.
• Assess risk quality, review coverage requirements and loss control recommendations, and maintain accurate underwriting documentation.
• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop underwriting associates while managing team goals, performance, and workflow.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of wholesale insurance underwriting and brokerage experience.
• Proven success in production underwriting and business development.
• Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, risk assessment, carrier markets, and underwriting guidelines.
• State insurance licensing as required.
• Strong sales, relationship-building, negotiation, presentation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments; a bachelor's degree in business, risk management, insurance, finance, or a related field is preferred.

Nice to have

• Professional designation such as CPCU, AU, CIC, CRIS, or similar.
• Experience with agency management and underwriting systems.
