Environmental and Contractors Professional Underwriter (Environmental Liability)

Location: New York City, United States; regular in-person meetings with agents and brokers and travel required.

Annual base salary: $89,800–$148,300.

What you will do

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of environmental liability business.
• Underwrite and negotiate new and renewal customer accounts in line with risk appetite.
• Build relationships with agents, brokers, and internal partners to develop sales and cross-selling plans.
• Market and sell insurance products through regular in-person meetings and travel.
• Identify new business opportunities and execute agency, regional, and group sales plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least two years of relevant experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial work, sales, product, or finance.
• Three to five years of relevant underwriting experience, including environmental liability experience.
• Knowledge of environmental liability products, regulatory requirements, and the local insurance market.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• CPCU designation.
