EHS Advisor (Renewable Energy)

Location: Charlottesville, VA, USA; remote work is available with 50% travel to designated project sites.

What you will do

• Provide safety leadership and support across operating wind, solar, and battery storage sites.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, regulatory reviews, and compliance documentation checks under OSHA and industry standards.
• Guide contractor safety programs, prequalification processes, job hazard analyses, and safe work procedures.
• Advise facility managers on safety regulations and support environmental reporting, waste management, pollution control, and sustainability programs.
• Lead or participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and monthly safety metric reviews.
• Participate in site, safety committee, contractor, client, and operations meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of safety experience, including at least 2 years in renewable energy.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and NFPA 70E, with OHST, CHST, or comparable certification and OSHA 30/510 certification, or plans to obtain them.
• Experience with fall protection, rescue planning, wind turbine safety systems, battery storage safety, solar installation safety, and incident investigations.
• Valid driver’s license, First Aid/CPR certification, ability to travel to remote sites, and willingness to travel 50%.
• Ability to climb wind turbines over 300 feet, wear fall-protection PPE, work in varied weather conditions, and remain active for extended periods.
