Software Engineer/Lead Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Bloomington, Illinois, or Dunwoody, Georgia, United States

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 per year, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Design and deliver scalable, secure full-stack platforms supporting Property & Casualty claims operations.
• Build backend services and REST APIs using Java, TypeScript/Node.js, Python, and AWS technologies.
• Implement event-driven integrations with queues, topics, dead-letter queues, and replay or backfill strategies.
• Deploy and operate containerized services on Kubernetes or OpenShift, including rollout and rollback strategies.
• Support production systems through debugging, observability, incident triage, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Modernize legacy systems and integrate AI agents, LLMs, and Model Context Protocol servers or integrations.

Requirements

• Full-stack software development experience with strong backend and service engineering capabilities.
• Strong proficiency in at least one of Java with Spring Boot, TypeScript/Node.js, or Python.
• Experience with distributed systems, REST API design, event-driven architecture, AWS, Kubernetes or OpenShift, and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of reliability engineering, failure modes, retries and timeouts, idempotency, eventual consistency, security, IAM, encryption, secrets management, and PII handling.
• Experience with production support, observability tooling such as CloudWatch and Dynatrace, legacy modernization, and migration strategies.
• Experience designing, building, or operating custom AI agents, agentic development workflows, or Model Context Protocol integrations.

Nice to have

• Angular familiarity and experience supporting single-page applications and front-end integration patterns.
