Controls Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

Location: Remote, USA, with full-time onsite expectations in San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston outside of bi-weekly WFH Fridays. Exceptions may be considered for exceptional candidates living outside these hubs.

What you will do

• Design and develop PLC and HMI programs for building automation and facility control systems.
• Design control panels and produce construction-ready control schematics and documentation.
• Develop network designs using Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, and Modbus RTU.
• Configure and commission VFD controls for motors, pumps, and HVAC systems.
• Translate P&ID diagrams into control logic for valve sequencing, motor control, and pump staging.
• Collaborate on facility integration, support FAT, SAT, and commissioning, and troubleshoot field issues.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on PLC and HMI programming and commissioning experience.
• Experience designing control panels and producing schematics with AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of control systems principles, including loop and PID control; building automation and cooling systems experience is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of VFD configuration and control, with experience reading P&ID diagrams and designing I/O systems.
• Familiarity with at least one industrial communication protocol, including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, or Modbus RTU.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with data center cooling controls or other mission-critical facilities.
• Knowledge of OT/ICS network architecture and industrial cybersecurity.
• Experience with BACnet, Profibus, PROFINET, OPC-UA, SCADA, historian platforms, or Ignition.
• Experience in fast-paced construction and build environments.
