TL;DR
Controls Engineer (Automotive) (PLC/Industrial Automation): Configuring, programming, testing, and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems and automation equipment in a high-volume manufacturing facility with an accent on electrical controls, production-floor support, and continuous process improvement. Focus on diagnosing manufacturing equipment issues, deploying operator interfaces, leading automation system installations and start-ups, and improving quality, cost, responsiveness, and safety.
Location: Onsite in Kansas City, Kansas, with full-time attendance required. Assigned afternoon and/or night shifts may be required. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do
- Configure, program, test, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems, control panels, and associated equipment.
- Diagnose and correct deficiencies in manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Design and deploy intuitive user interface displays and develop automation solutions.
- Lead and support the installation, start-up, maintenance, and operation of automation systems.
- Work with manufacturing, quality, and maintenance groups to resolve production issues.
- Continuously improve quality, cost, responsiveness, and safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience with industrial automation or controls systems.
- Strong programming skills and the ability to support manufacturing processes on the production floor.
- Availability to work assigned off-shifts, including afternoon and/or night shifts.
- Must work onsite in Kansas City, Kansas.

Nice to have
- Automotive industry or high-volume manufacturing experience.
- Experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, B&R, or Omron control platforms.
- Experience with machine vision systems such as Cognex or Keyence, and Fanuc robotics.
- Knowledge of electrical safety, functional machine safety, SCADA/MES, Ethernet networks, Python, or SQL.
- Experience with assembly, laser welding, braze welding, plastic welding, molding, machining, induction heating, or building new equipment.
