Systems Engineer (Automation)

Location: Raleigh, NC, USA; requires commissioning solutions at client sites and willingness to travel 30–50% within the USA.

What you will do

• Engineer and implement real-time automation controls and industrial information solutions.
• Conceptualize solutions during project design and develop PLC, PAC, HMI, SCADA, networking, database, and vision systems.
• Program, debug, test, and commission systems at client sites.
• Create engineering notes, proposals, design traceability documentation, and case studies.
• Develop methodologies, solve complex engineering problems, identify improvement opportunities, and learn new technologies.
• Mentor colleagues and share expertise across the engineering team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related Engineering Technology field, completed or nearing completion.
• 5–7 years of experience with some or all of the listed automation technologies.
• Experience with PLC and PAC programming, HMI, SCADA, industrial networking, and related control systems.
• Analytical, conscientious, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to learn quickly.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and full-time access to a personal vehicle.

Nice to have

• Experience in food and beverage or life sciences.
• Knowledge of DeviceNet, ControlNet, DH+, Remote I/O, or Modbus.
• Experience with Python, PI System Historian, and databases.
