Lead Optical Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Base pay: $148,000–$199,000 annually, plus bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Support the development of commercial and research quantum computing systems with physicists, optical engineers, and opto-mechanical engineers.
• Test, assemble, and develop metasurfaces, lenses, micro-optics, photonic components, and optical systems.
• Develop methods to create, deliver, and measure light in next-generation quantum computers.
• Lead design and development projects that validate technologies, alignment methods, and suppliers for production solutions.
• Debug and troubleshoot optical and photonic systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• At least 8 years of experience, including advanced-degree experience, in optical design of refractive, reflective, diffractive, photonic components, and systems.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.
• Experience with optical modeling software such as Zemax, Code V, LightTools, or FRED; Zemax is preferred.
• Experience with high-NA photonic collection optics, optical tolerancing, diffractive optics or metasurfaces, micro-optics, fiber optics, photonic components, polarization optics, optical measurements, and wavelengths from UV to infrared.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in optics, applied physics, or a related field.
• Experience with CAD software.
