What you will do

• Use Zemax geometric and physical optics modules to simulate and design fiber-coupling optics for photonic chips.
• Work with suppliers to define specifications and optimize fiber-coupling performance.
• Design and perform experiments to evaluate optical components and fiber-coupling performance.
• Provide technical support to mechanical and process engineers for performance under manufacturing conditions.
• Analyze system requirements, define architectures, test subsystems, integrate components, and mitigate technical risks.

Requirements

• Proficiency with Zemax optical design software, including geometric optics, physical optics, and statistical tolerancing.
• Hands-on experience designing, assembling, and aligning optical testing setups.
• Programming skills for instrument control and test automation.
• Experience processing and analyzing data with Python, MATLAB, or another high-level programming language.

Nice to have

• Experience with fiber-coupling designs or fiber-attach processes in advanced packaging.
• Knowledge of optical communication standards and pluggable, NPO, or CPO technologies.
• Experience with passive or active photonic integrated circuit design and layout.
• Familiarity with semiconductor process flows and foundry PDKs.
