Senior Optical Assembly & Alignment Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Location: Boulder, Colorado, United States; on-site

Base salary: $170,000–$200,000 per year, plus annual bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Build optical breadboards and laser-delivery assemblies from controlled layouts, drawings, bills of materials, and work instructions.
• Install and align lenses, mirrors, beam splitters, polarization optics, and fiber-coupling assemblies.
• Measure optical throughput, power, beam profiles, polarization, coupling efficiency, and wavefront performance.
• Diagnose beam clipping, optical losses, pointing drift, polarization errors, and mount-induced alignment changes.
• Establish pre-bond alignment and fixturing, then compare optical measurements after curing.
• Document measurements, component identifiers, revisions, alignment references, instruments, and verification steps before delivering assemblies to system integration and test.

Requirements

• BS in optics, optical engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience with optical assembly, free-space alignment, fiber coupling, and characterization of precision laser or photonics hardware.
• Experience building from controlled optical layouts and recording repeatable measurements for subsystem acceptance.
• Experience with neutral-atom quantum-computer optics, AMO laboratory systems, or precision scientific instrumentation is preferred.
• Work must be performed on-site in Boulder, Colorado.
