Software Development Manager (AI)

Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, with hybrid work from the Edmonton office or fully remote work across Canada

What you will do

• Lead Software Developers and Scrum Masters responsible for the contract platform and internal CMS editor experience.
• Set expectations, coach team members, support performance and career development, and build shared ownership of delivery quality.
• Partner with Product Owners and stakeholders on strategy, technical roadmaps, priorities, scope, risks, and delivery commitments.
• Make architecture and technology decisions supporting business goals and long-term scalability.
• Apply practical AI tools to technical investigation, prototyping, code review, testing, documentation, and delivery analysis.
• Strengthen practices for web applications, APIs, data models, automated testing, CI/CD, security, releases, incident response, and production troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education in Computing Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience leading software development teams and at least 7 years of experience in software development, architecture, or technical delivery.
• Strong technical judgment across web applications, APIs, data models, automated testing, CI/CD, security, and production troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience using AI platforms, agents, or related tools in software engineering, including validating AI-generated output and identifying risks.
• Strong business acumen, communication skills, stakeholder collaboration, and familiarity with Agile software delivery.
• Work authorization and residence in Canada are required for the remote arrangement; hybrid work is available from Edmonton, Alberta.

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, C#/.NET, Vue, SQL Server, and Entity Framework Core.
• Experience introducing reusable AI workflows, engineering playbooks, or developer enablement practices and measuring their impact.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol or similar approaches for connecting AI tools to engineering or product workflows.
• Experience leading AI adoption, technical transformation, or change management initiatives.
